Fire in the natural park of Cabo de Gata
On June 16, 2017 there was a big fire in the natural park of Cabo de Gata, near the beautiful beaches of Genoves and Monsul.
More than 50 firefighters were mobilized and 3 helicopters and one Airplane were dispatched on the area.
The fire took place from the cala Raja, a small creek between the lighthouse of Cabo de Gata and the Cala Carbon very close to the reef of the sirens (Arrecife de las sirenas). In the municipality of San josé (Nijar).

The fire began in mid-afternoon on Thursday, June 16, 2017 and ended around 10 pm at nightfall.
The area was still under control part of the night and this Friday, June 17, 2017.
